Full-Service Laundry in the Philippines

Quick, Fresh, Affordable — Trusted Since 1987

Laundry may be one of life's most routine chores, but doing it well makes all the difference. At Royal Clean, we have spent close to four decades mastering every aspect of professional laundry service — from sorting and stain treatment to washing, drying, folding, and finishing. Whether you need crisp office shirts, fresh bedding, or spotless school uniforms, our eight branches across Metro Manila and Cavite are here to help.

This comprehensive guide draws on our 38 years of hands-on experience to share everything you need to know about laundry — whether you handle it at home or entrust it to a professional laundry service near you.

Chapter 1: Sorting — The Foundation of Great Laundry

It can be tempting to toss everything into the machine at once, but sorting is the single most important step in preventing laundry disasters. Taking a few minutes to organize your clothes before washing protects colours, preserves fabric integrity, and improves cleaning results.

Check every care label. Textile manufacturers are required to include care labels on all garments. These small tags — usually found along the inside seam — contain standardized symbols indicating the recommended wash temperature, drying method, ironing heat, and whether the item needs professional dry cleaning. Reading them is the first line of defence against shrinkage, colour bleeding, and fabric damage.

Separate by colour. Whites, darks, and brightly coloured items should always be washed in separate loads. Even garments that have been washed many times can release small amounts of dye, and a single dark sock in a load of white shirts can produce an unwelcome pink tint. When in doubt, wash a new garment on its own the first time to see whether it bleeds.

Separate by fabric weight. Heavy items like jeans and towels create more mechanical friction in the drum. Washing them alongside lightweight blouses or delicate knits can cause stretching, pilling, and premature wear. Group similar weights together for more even washing and drying.

Separate by soil level. Heavily soiled work clothes, gym gear, and children's play outfits should not share a load with lightly worn office attire. The extra dirt and grime can transfer to cleaner items, and the heavier wash cycle needed for dirty garments is unnecessarily harsh on lightly soiled pieces.

Prepare each garment. Before loading the machine, empty all pockets, close zippers (open zippers can snag other fabrics), fasten hooks, and turn jeans inside out to reduce fading. Place small items like socks and delicates in mesh laundry bags to prevent tangling and loss.

Chapter 2: Stain Removal — Act Fast for the Best Results

The golden rule of stain removal is speed. The longer a stain sits, the deeper it bonds with the fibre, and the harder it becomes to remove. Here are practical techniques our Royal Clean team recommends:

  • Blot, never rub. Rubbing pushes the stain deeper into the fabric and can spread it outward. Instead, press a clean white cloth or paper towel against the stain to absorb as much as possible.
  • Cold water first. For most fresh stains — coffee, juice, blood — rinse with cold water immediately. Hot water can set protein-based stains permanently.
  • Enzyme-based pre-treaters. Look for laundry detergents or pre-treatment sprays that list enzymes among their active ingredients. Enzymes break down organic compounds like food, sweat, and grass far more effectively than standard surfactants.
  • Never put a stained item in the dryer. The heat of a tumble dryer can permanently set a stain that might otherwise have come out in a second wash or with professional treatment.

For stubborn or delicate stains — wine on silk, ink on linen, grease on wool — bring the garment to Royal Clean. We use professional spotting machines equipped with specialized stain-removal tools that target specific stain types without damaging the underlying fabric.

Chapter 3: Washing — Temperature, Detergent, and Cycle Selection

Choosing the right water temperature. Water temperature has a significant impact on both cleaning effectiveness and fabric longevity. Cold water (below 30°C) is sufficient for most everyday garments, preserves colour, and saves energy. Warm water (30–40°C) is effective for towels, bedding, and moderately soiled items. Hot water (above 40°C) should be reserved for heavily soiled whites and items that need sanitizing, such as cloth nappies or kitchen linens.

In the Philippines' tropical climate, cold-water washing is especially practical. Ambient water temperatures are already warm enough to activate most modern detergents effectively, making hot-water cycles unnecessary for routine loads.

Selecting the right detergent. The market offers an enormous range of laundry detergents — liquids, powders, pods, and concentrates. For Philippine households, we recommend enzyme-based liquid detergents, which dissolve readily even in cold water and tackle a broad spectrum of common stains.

If you prefer powdered detergent for its affordability, dissolve it fully in water before adding your clothes. Undissolved powder granules can leave white residue marks on dark fabrics.

Laundry pods are convenient and pre-measured, reducing the risk of using too much or too little detergent. However, they tend to cost more per load and should always be placed at the bottom of the drum, beneath the clothes, to ensure they dissolve completely.

Cycle selection. Most modern washing machines offer a range of cycle options. We recommend the "delicates" or "gentle" cycle for everyday garments — it uses slower agitation and shorter spin times, which extends fabric life without sacrificing cleanliness. Reserve "normal" or "heavy-duty" cycles for robust items like towels, jeans, and heavily soiled workwear.

Chapter 4: Drying — Protecting Shape, Colour, and Fit

How you dry your clothes matters just as much as how you wash them. Excessive heat is one of the leading causes of shrinkage, colour fading, and elastic breakdown.

  • Air drying is gentlest. Hanging clothes on a line or drying rack preserves fabric structure and saves energy. In the Philippine climate, air drying is fast and practical for most of the year.
  • Keep darks out of direct sunlight. UV rays fade dark and bright colours. Dry these items in the shade or indoors.
  • Use low heat for machine drying. If you must use a tumble dryer, select the lowest heat setting. Remove items promptly when the cycle ends to prevent wrinkles from setting in.
  • Reshape knits while damp. Sweaters and knitted garments should be laid flat to dry on a clean towel, gently stretched back to their original shape.
  • Never wring delicates. Roll them in a towel to press out excess water instead.

Chapter 5: Folding, Ironing, and Storage

The final steps in the laundry process determine how your clothes look when you wear them. Prompt folding or hanging prevents wrinkles from becoming permanent. Iron garments while they are still slightly damp for the smoothest results, and always check the iron's heat setting against the care label.

Store folded items in dry, well-ventilated spaces. Avoid cramming too many items into a drawer, which causes creasing. Hang structured garments — blazers, dress shirts, trousers — on appropriate hangers to maintain their shape.

When to Use a Professional Laundry Service

While home laundering works well for everyday basics, there are situations where a professional laundry service delivers clearly superior results:

  • Large or bulky items — Comforters, duvets, and heavy blankets often do not fit or agitate properly in domestic machines.
  • Stubborn stains — Professional spotting equipment and chemicals outperform household products on set-in or complex stains.
  • Time constraints — Busy professionals and students save hours every week by dropping laundry at a nearby service.
  • Uniforms and workwear — Consistent, crisp finishing is difficult to achieve with a home iron.
  • Special fabrics — Linen, bamboo, modal, and technical sportswear benefit from the controlled wash environments that professional equipment provides.

Royal Clean's laundry service handles all of these scenarios with the same attention to detail that defines our dry cleaning. Every load is sorted, treated, washed, dried, and folded by trained staff using commercial-grade equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laundry

How often should I wash my clothes? Underwear, socks, and gym clothes should be washed after every wearing. T-shirts and casual tops can typically be worn two to three times. Jeans and dress trousers can go four to five wearings between washes. Outerwear like jackets needs washing only when visibly soiled or at the change of season.

Is fabric softener necessary? Fabric softener reduces static, adds fragrance, and makes towels feel plush. However, it can reduce the absorbency of towels over time and leave residue on athletic fabrics. Use it selectively, and consider white vinegar as a natural, fragrance-free alternative.

Can I wash all colours together in cold water? Cold water reduces colour bleeding risk, but it does not eliminate it entirely. Sorting by colour remains the safest practice, especially for new or brightly dyed garments.

What is the turnaround time at Royal Clean? Standard laundry service is same-day or next-day at most branches, depending on volume and the time of drop-off.
